4 The tool I need is grayed out?

  • Be sure you are in 16 million colors or Grey Scale for most tools to work.
  • Certain tools may also require you to make a selection before they can become available.
  • Been scanning?  Make sure you have ended your TWAIN session.
  • Some tools only work on raster layers. If the current layer is vector then convert it to raster.  Menu >Layer > Convert to Raster

It really helps to keep this palette open and visible most of the time.

Once you get in the habit of creating all new images in 16 million colors, then most tools will automatically be available.

For your web images you can always reduce colors back down prior to the final SAVE.
